ഗോസൂക്തം എന്നത് വേദങ്ങളിൽ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് ഋഗ്വേദത്തിൽ കാണുന്ന ഒരു സ്തുതിഗീതമാണ്. ഗോമാതാവിനെ അഥവാ പശുവിനെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്ന മന്ത്രങ്ങളാണ് ഇതിലുള്ളത്. പശുവിനെ വളരെ പവിത്രമായ ഒരു ജീവിയായി കണക്കാക്കുന്ന ഭാരതീയ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിൽ ഈ സൂക്തത്തിന് വലിയ പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. ഗോസൂക്തത്തിന്റെ പ്രാധാന്യം സമ്പത്തും സമൃദ്ധിയും: ഗോമാതാവിനെ സ്തുതിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ സമ്പത്തും സമൃദ്ധിയും കൈവരുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പാപനാശം: ഈ സൂക്തം പതിവായി ജപിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ കഴിഞ്ഞതും ഇപ്പോഴുള്ളതുമായ പാപങ്ങൾ ഇല്ലാതാവുമെന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ആഗ്രഹ പൂർത്തീകരണം: എല്ലാ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങളും നിറവേറാൻ ഗോസൂക്തം ജപിക്കുന്നത് ഉത്തമമാണെന്ന് കരുതുന്നു. ആരോഗ്യവും സന്തോഷവും: ആരോഗ്യം, സമ്പത്ത്, സന്തോഷം എന്നിവ ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനും ഇത് സഹായിക്കുമെന്ന് വിശ്വാസമുണ്ട്. സകല ദേവതാ സാന്നിധ്യം: ഗോമാതാവിൻ്റെ ശരീരത്തിൽ എല്ലാ ദേവതകളും വസിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം. അതിനാൽ ഗോസൂക്തം ജപിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ എല്ലാ ദേവതകളുടെയും അനുഗ്രഹം ലഭിക്കുന്നു. ഋഗ്വേദത്തിലെ ആറാം മണ്ഡലത്തിലെ ഇരുപത്തിയെട്ടാം സൂക്തമാണ് ഗോസൂക്തം. കാലികളെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനും സമൃദ്ധിക്ക് വേണ്ടിയും ഇതിലെ മന്ത്രങ്ങൾ ജപിക്കുന്നു.
