The Goal of Vedantic
                 Meditation

The objective is to enjoy perpetual super consciousness

Part - 1

In vedantic practice concentration may begin in an ordinary way with the Raja yoga practice of focusing on any object or form until the mind becomes stable. The moment the mind stays in a focused state, you have entered into the disciplinary form of meditation described in Raja Yoga. Your consciousness expands, even if only by a small degree, and you become aware of something mysterious within yourself. This special experience is a taste of Raja Yoga samādhi or super-consciousness.

In nature, each time lightning flashes through the clouds in the sky there is an upsurge of energy. If that energy were stored properly, an entire city would be illumined. Similarly in Raja Yoga meditation and samādhi there may be a burst of lightning, but will the energy be used well?

Practitioners who have experienced that type of samādhi long to experience it again and try to find a place of seclusion so that the lightning of samādhi will flash. However, this is a limited conception of samādhi.

Om. Swami Jyotirmayananda.
Will continue.
